burgerA small act of kindness can be contagious.  For the MacLean family in Midvale, Utah, dining at a local Chili’s restaurant created a positive experience for their sister, Arianna.  Arianna was upset about her ‘broken hamburger’ that was cut in half.  According to her sister, “I think most people, just out of fear and the unknown, don’t know how to interact with a kid with autism, so people will usually just keep the interaction with me.”

However, the Chili’s waitress, Lauren Wells, turned Arianna’s situation into a positive one.  She apologized for the broken burger and brought a new one for Arianna.  “I treated her the same way that [I would] any other kid who would be crying, but in her case, it was something different,” said Wells.
